Worth Its Weight In Gold

12 May – 14 June 2020

  • Abdul-Rahman Abdullah
  • Geoff Overheu

Curated by Anna Louise Richardson, Worth Its Weight In Gold investigates the idea of an idyllic rural lifestyle through the works of Western Australian artists Geoff Overheu, Paul Caporn, Abdul-Rahman Abdullah, Roderick Sprigg, Valdene Buckley-Diprose, Anna Louise Richardson and furniture designer Megan Christie.

Worth Its Weight In Gold brings together a diverse range of artists and creative professionals to explore the continued cultural connotations surrounding the mythology of resource booms in Australia. Tied together through a common experience of sheep or the sheep industry, the project investigates the idyllic rural lifestyle and
Australia’s historicised values of being ‘built on the sheep’s back’.
