Melbourne-based artist Simon Finn presents a body of new work in Warning, his first solo exhibition in Western Australia. Finn’s meticulous exploration of impending disaster is rendered in drawing, sculpture and new media. By employing new visualisation technologies including computer simulation and 3D printing, in addition to more traditional drawing, Finn constructs cloistered realities which resemble aspects of our own. Within these synthetic worlds, modelled catastrophes are simulated over and over again, each orderly enactment providing an unsettling parallel to less ordered real-world events.
