Graham Mathwin: Take Care

9 December – 29 January 2020

Take Care is an exhibition of new work by Perth artist Graham Mathwin. The exhibition explores the psychotic dynamics of public space in the city. Using as a starting point the control and chaotic violence of public transport, Take Care delves into an analysis of the nature of cities, their construction, and destruction.

Through video and installation, Take Care uses the imagery and display technology of public space and transport systems. Making reference to Miranda Miller, whose voice guides commuters on the Transperth train network, Take Care draws focus to the tumultuous relationship between the personal and public realms of life in the city.

Graham Mathwin’s multidisciplinary practice investigates the role of images in constructing our world, and informing the social imaginary. His work has been exhibited at PICA, Success Gallery Fremantle, and Free Range ARI in Perth.
