Llewellyn Millhouse: Labour Market: #Shoot4TheStars

10 June – 5 July 2020

Labour Market is an ongoing project from Queensland artist Llewellyn Millhouse that considers how advertising narratives reflect and inform the values of our society.

In this project, Llewellyn restages advertising and branding material associated with the online employment marketplace Seek. At Moana, he invites jobseekers to interact with his art installation by playing a game, documenting themselves winning prizes, and creating personalised video resumes.

#Shoot4theStars is an incisive, darkly humorous examination of competition, commodification, and self-representation in the labour market.

Llewellyn Millhouse is a Brisbane based contemporary visual artist. Llewellyn has exhibited widely, including at The Walls (Gold Coast), Moderna Museet (Stockholm), AASS (Brisbane), Sawtooth ARI (Launceston), Metro Arts Gallery (Brisbane), and Addition Gallery (Brisbane). He was chosen as a finalist for the Churchie Emerging Art Prize in 2020 and selected to exhibit as part of safARI 2020 (Sydney). He is undertaking a PhD at the Queensland College of Art.
