IMAGE MIRAGE IAMAGE sees Perth-based curator Georgia Kaw bring together an impressive ensemble of
leading contemporary artists in order to probe at the esoteric boundaries between surface and object – a line
that is increasingly blurred within ever-merging digital and physical worlds.
Television screens, photographs and pictures all create an illusionary dimension of physical space and
time within their borders. Separate from the viewer’s physical world, this illusionary space ignores its own
materiality in favour of the information presented on its surface, which is its point of value. Within the
chaotic projection of multiple realities that are so much a part of our technological age, each of these celebrated
artists pauses to look at matter that is so often overlooked, through the creation of new media, sculpture,
and video works.
